What Is Super Conductivity
December 12th 2008 17:40
There many scientific phenomenons that exist around and amaze us when we have a deeper look into it. Such events and phenomenons are some times rare and at other times they are in the process of giving birth to a new technology.
The phenomenon which I am talking about is Superconductivity, which has literally amazed scientists and researchers throughout the world. The phenomenon is of such nature that it has allowed new dimension to be opened in the study of Physics. Scientists are forced to change the conventional ideas about conduction in matter.
Superconductivity is actually a phenomenon in which a conductor provides zero resistance to the passage of electric current that means the current can continue to flow indefinitely without any loss of energy. But all this doesn't come that easily because Superconductivity can only be achieved at super cool temperatures as low as 4 kelvin, i.e. almost near to absolute zero.
Currently scientists are trying hard to make room temperature superconductors which will make our machines super fast and will really change the world. There is also an interesting phenomenon associated with super conductivity i.e. 'Magnetic Elevation' .
You can watch the video of magnetic elevation and details about superconductivity in this article
