The Anaconda

Anaconda are the largest snakes in the world. They are classified as the members of the Boa family. There common habitat is near swamps or rivers. They have a length of about 25-30 feet and weigh in around 300lbs. They are so enormous that they would appear to be a bit sluggish in land areas but in water they are quite fast.
Anacondas give birth to young ones instead of eggs. At a time it can give birth to as many as 100 babies which can take care of themselves as soon as they are born. But most of them fall prey to their predators. These young ones themselves eat; mice, eggs or fishes.
Although they are quite huge in length but there is common misconception that the Anaconda is the longest snake in the world, this is untrue because the Reticulated Python is considered to be the longest snake in the world and Anacondas are called the largest ones because of there weight.
There also have been many stories about Anacondas eating men and a lot of pictures could be found on the internet. It is true that Anacondas are capable of swallowing a full grown man but such cases are rare. There is a famous pic that circulated around the internet in which an Anaconda tried to swallow a crocodile and got torn up.
If you are more curious about this giant beast you can read it here where you would find other useful information about poisonous snakes.
