How Grenade Works
December 28th 2008 15:25
In my recent post I discussed, what are nuclear bombs and gave you a basic idea of their working. Currently there are eight countries who have declared them selves to be nuclear states and Israel is the ninth undeclared state.
Now lets come down a bit from these weapon of mass destruction and have a look at a smaller bomb which is called a grenade. It is common to hear about grenades on a daily basis. But what it really is,that I will tell you in this post.
The grenades were first developed by the Chinese and later in the 15th century the Europeans made advancement in the grenade technology. But the Chinese were the real founders of its basic gunpowder structure.
This basic technology reached new heights of destruction during the first world war and later on its use became obligatory in any battle.
It basically consists of a hollow metal container filled with gun powder or other explosive material. When this material is ignited a rapid expansion of gases takes place which increases the pressure in the container an it explodes.

When you pull the pin and throw the handle falls off, the handle keeps a piece of metail in place, when handles gone that drops down and hits the bottom, makes a spark and starts the fuse.
