Vampire culture has always been popular in all sorts of media. Every since Europe plunged into dark ages, many different superstitions and witchcraft stories started to emerge in the lives of common people. Most of these stories are really strange and some of them became so popular that they still haunt the minds of not just Europeans but many people around the world.
Although such stories exist in almost all cultures yet only some gain mainstream popularity. The Vampire stories and legends are things that have always been their in our literature. Presently many films have been made on this famous legend and have always made us remember this mysterious creature.
There is much literature related to the vampires all of which is mentioned in a variety of different ways. The famous 'Dracula' character is one such interpretation of this creature.
Recently archaeologists unearthed a skull which is though to be of a vampire. There is a thorough believe among researchers that there is no such creature like vampire nor it has ever existed and like I mentioned that much of this vampire thing started to emerge due to the lack of knowledge among people in early days.
This vampire skull is a supposed vampire skull because in those times people would make any one a witch or ghost, who was doing something unusual. Then there were some pathetic slaying or burial rituals for such people. The skull found in Venice, has a brick in its mouth which shows that people thought of it to be a vampire and carried out some of their burial rituals to kill the vampire and therefore stuck a brick in its mouth.
The story that scientists has reconstructed is like in those days there were many epidemics that used to take place. Burial grounds would have to be dug again to bury fresh bodies. The grave digger would often encounter a bloated body having a shroud near his mouth with blood seeping out of the undecomposed body. The people would thing that the person is alive and is a vampire so they thought that a brick in the body's mouth would kill it.
This in other words have opened a new dimension in the vampire culture. Because this belief is some what new unlike the traditional belief that vampires are crazy blood thirsty beasts that can have you for a drink, any time in the night.
